Building the Coalition to Fight Malicious Deepfakes
The DeepTrust Alliance is a global coalition of stakeholders advancing the fight against digital disinformation and deepfakes.
A 501(c)(6), DeepTrust is the only multi-industry organization using a network approach to create the standards to combat digital fakes.
Values and Beliefs
We believe:
Technology is simply a tool
It is only “good” or “bad” depending on how society uses it.
Open standards and open governance are critical
These are collective problems that cannot be solved via proprietary solutions.
A network approach is vital
A complex issue, cross-collaboration is needed to create the standards that verify the origins of content to combat digital fakes.
Deepfakes are a part of the public record
However, they need guardrails, warning labels, and identification as purposeful satire or manipulation.
We Value
Transparency
There is a value in giving consumers more information rather than less.
Self-governance
Individuals should have the power to decide what kind of content is allowed on their platform in accordance with their values, mission, and business model.
Communication
Cross-collaboration between industry, government, and civil service drives progress forward.
